    I happened upon an auction for a 2019 Chase Elliott 1/24 Hooters car on eBay. Starting bis was $33 with $11 shipping. I thought for a moment of buying it myself until I read the description and saw the plastic chassis. The only new item I've bought lately was a Courtney Force funny car that disappointed me enough to not buy another unless it's super cheap. Nobody bid on the Hooters car. When the auction was over, it directed me to several of the same car with starting bids of $54. I don't see where they have any chance of selling them. It must be tough to be a dealer in these times.

    Starting last year, the Standards have a plastic chassis and are only HO. If you want HOTO, you have to get the Elite.

    It had to happen sooner or later.
    People were bitching about the price so they cut cost were ever they could. However on a good note the elites will be bought and then sold on eBay for double. Witch people will buy.

    I miss the older diecast. I knew the change was coming and it is disappointing but after all the complaints of high prices, Lionel went with the changes. Elites are around $84.00 and ARC are around $54.00.

    ARC=Winner's Circle QUALITY.
    ELITE=ARC QUALITY.

    This for a $10 price drop. DNP lists a mile long. Who's subsidizing Lionel?

    I know I’m in the minority, but the detail reductions didn’t bother me as bad, just because they kept the exterior details pretty much the same. Don’t get me wrong, I’d rather have what we had 10 years ago for sure, but I do understand the business decision behind it. My bigger issue that has caused me to massively decrease my spending is the quality control. I keep hoping the sport will explode in growth again and we’ll see another collecting boom that will help with all of this, not to mention, maybe another manufacturer to create competition in the marketplace. I know that’s all wishful thinking, but I do think competition in the market would make product better all around. That being said, we do have a spectacular option for historical cars with University of Racing. What they’re doing is awesome.

    Yeah, the ARC's are disappointing, especially compared to what you got with an ARC seven or eight years ago. The price of commodities and manufacturing have probably dictated this loss of quality, but the ARC's are department store quality, circa 1998.

    Everybody knows, by now, about the lack of detail on everything other than elites. The point I was trying to make, apparently not too well, how do dealers make ends meet when a $55 car can't sell for $33? .....and a very popular driver at that. The lack of interest in die-cast parallels the lack of interest in NASCAR. The stands at Bristol should yell that it's a real problem to everybody. I've gotten to where I spend my money mostly on 1/18 INDYCAR. I just don't see how dealers survive these days.

    The short answer is, they don't. Look no further than our front page here at DCZ and the list of authorized dealers. Click on their links and see which ones actually work. I've requested that list be removed but it continues to stay for the memories of days gone by I guess.

    I see the front page was cleaned up of dead links to dealer's sites. Presumably by Dale3DaleJr88Dale3DaleJr88
    Thanks for that. Ron's site is still dead linked. He did have a Facebook presence here:

    Black Flag Racing Collectibles

    Not sure if he's still active through it. Another thing to note is that our longest actual dealer and sponsor, At The Track Racing Collectibles is gone, leaving Plan B as our only official partner. Goes back to the original poster's tf330fantf330fan comments on how hard it is to be a dealer these days. Also, I believe Plan B no longer is financially obligated to the site since Vertical Scope took over in a 2016. Just free advertising and a figure head at this point, although they do donate to team3and8team3and8 Jerry's monthly giveaways which are now in memorium. Even though they make no mention of Diecast Crazy's existence whatsoever in their social media outlets, I guess its still a nice gesture.

    Yes, I'm working on cleaning it up. I have to verify the last 3 since they were active in 2019.

    I would say it is free advertising now, since Verticalscope took over or they would have deleted it all. Franklin did it to help support the sites bills.

    I'm aware of all that. Prior to Plan B, GoMotorbids.com was our partner. However, AtTheTrack has always been there through thick and thin as our official, go-to dealer. Now? Not so much. :(

    I think they would approve. partsmanpartsman I don't know how much spin off business they get from being listed here, if any. I haven't bought from them in ages, but I have bought from them. Back then a % of our purchases went to support DCZ. No longer the case with VS in charge. I think we owe the free advertising to Dave as much as we do Brent. Even if it's one sale a year he gets from being advertised here. Thanks... Dale3DaleJr88Dale3DaleJr88

    I would put them back in that official partner section too. They were at one time. They were also the ones who donated to our monthly giveaways until VB took over and that stopped.

    Diecast CraZy

    Jerry team3and8team3and8 was able to convince Plan B to do them again, if I have my facts straight.

    Yeah I've been seeing some newer cars 2018 to now, listed for under 40 bucks lately. When you look at the list of DNP's, its not surprising though. Nobody is buying these things anymore. I pretty much only buy Authentics out of the stores and the occasional older Action stuff.
