If Chase Elliott is SO popular, why do I see his cars at every Wal-Mart and Target I go to, they just sit on the pegs for months and months.

Because the Authentics line are mass produced and they make tons and tons of those cars. After a while, that line of cars saturates the market. They're plentiful. His 1/24 scale cars are the most sought after cars. Not so much the 1/64's.

The same thing used to happen with Dale Jr. You could walk into stores especially during the Spinmaster days and see nothing but 88 cars. In early 2020 I found a store with a dozen or so cars from his 2017 Wave 88 line.

Exactly! What he ☝️ said. I could always find Dale Jr stuff at Walmart, but his limited edition pieces were somewhat hard to find or priced too high.
