What The... New/Old package design?!?!?!

I thought that this style of packaging was new.........

But here is a current eBay auction w/a Jeff Gordon car in it and the car is from 98'.
Packaging look familiar? What a gyp!

STAR WARS WINNERS CIRCLE EPIS ONE NASCAR RACE CAR MIB - eBay (item 360149124282 end time Apr-29-09 06:25:23 PDT)

The only difference is the display case inside, but they still offer the same packaging w/o the display case.

In addition, some later promos were still released in that type of box prior to WC going back to it for their cars that came in the acrylic case in the last couple of years. One that specifically comes to mind was Stewart's Championship car when he won his first title.

I was aware of the 1/18's coming in those boxes, but not 1/24ths. Just goes to show my lack of Winners Circle knowledge. Thanks for the primer!

I find these boxes to be far more attractive and less toy-like. I had always disliked the window nets on the WC cars and stopped myself on more than one occasion from taking them apart and painting it black.

Me too. That is my biggest bitch about WC cars. The lack of color inside and on the wheels. I always wanna paint the window net black and the lugnuts silver.

I think the clear cars, and last years Daytona hood open cars,
used the "old" packaging. I kind of like the old box,
have always hated the grey window nets,
Recently the higher priced WC hood open cars have black nets
I have the Star Wars car that is pictured above, it does not have the clear case.

No the old packaging did not come with teh display case, but rather good old cheap plastic that loved to crush and bend. Aw how I miss that old packaging.

quick question on the windows. I have the 08 Jr 1/24th clear cars and the window nets are black, and the 08 Mtn Dew WC window net is black. Why is the rest of them not black or am i missing something ?

Are they hood open cars? From what I have been seeing is the hood open cars have the black window nets and dashboards. The regular WC cars do not.
