Default 2008 Allen & Ginter Wooly Mammoth Hair Card Pulled!

eBay Item 310070214402

Since 2006 Topps has produced a unique product that has driven set collecting to all all new level, Allen & Ginter. This product was patterend after the 1887 Allen & Ginter World's Greatest Champions tobacco card product. That product featured baseball players, boxers, wrestlers, marksmen, and famous leaders of the time. Topps current A&G product features all kinds of variations, parallels, and mini cards that have collectors in love with this product. It has been voted Product of the Year for both 2006 and 2007. The 2006 release surprised many collectors with a solid autograph lineup that featured top baseball players along with other sports stars like: Danica Patrick, Randy Couture, Mike Tyson, and Hulk Hogan. In 2007 Topps went a step further and included a DNA relic card that featured an actual strand of George Washington's hair. This card fetched over $40,000 at auction. This year A&G features a whole lineup of DNA relics featuring hair from former Presidents John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan. It also features a card with an actual piece of dinosaur bone and the card I mentioned above that features the wooly mammoth hair. Topps has confirmed that they produced only 10 of the mammoth hair cards, while all the other DNA relics in this year's A&G are actually 1/1s. This is by far the quirkiest product in all the sports card industry. The question is where do we go from here?

Not sure where Topps can go from here but they seem to surprise every year.

A&G is an awesome product.

What's next? Hard to imagine. The hair of dead Presidents and prehistoric beasts is going to be tough to beat. Cut up the Mona Lisa and make swatch cards?.....who knows.
