Default More Fake Patches.....

Another Jumbo Game Worn JERSEY Swatch Replaced by a "Prime" Swatch

Yet Another Jumbo Game Worn JERSEY Swatch Replaced by a "Prime" Swatch

The two most faked products of all time....Playoff Absolute and Playoff Prime Patches. These two were great examples of cards that had the plain single color swatch removed and replaced by more attractive "patches". The swatches in these products are very clearly labeled as "Prime", "Jersey Sleeve Patch", "Jersey Letter Patch", "Jersey Number Patch", etc. Also patches like this will NEVER be numbered as high as 200+. Most "Prime" patches are numbered to 50 or less with patches of this size and quality usually being /25, /10, or even 1/1. I just wanted to share these because I would hate any of the unsuspecting members here to throw away $200 plus like these buyers did for worthless, altered, junk!

The cards look good but like you said, they are just regular jersey cards with fake additions.

That really stinks. I hate seeing that.

The funny thing is, the scammers probably spent more money to make it then they sold it for. I don't know about baseball, but to get NBA jerseys with actual stitching and "patch" material costs almost $300 a pop...

They probably get the fake "authentic" jerseys from China off of Ebay. They usually go for around 30 bucks depending on the player and team, and the logos look exactly the same for the most part.

There are also eBay sellers that just sell patches to sew on a jacket or hat or jersey. The fakers end up using those a lot. A patch faking ring was recently uncovered by outsk8u in which a guy was using one ebay account to buy jersey cards then shipping them to another guy that was using his account to sell them after they were doctored. The two of those guys had taken folks for thousands of dollars. They got careless and greedy and faked a Dale Sr. firesuit patch card and that is what got them caught.

WTG outsk8u! A friend of mine got ripped off by a guy a trade show in Philly last month. Got a 2008 UD Prem Patch of Chase Utley for $10 from a guy outside the show. Got the card for his son. Went home & gave it to his son & went to take it out of the protector & the card just fell apart cause the glue was not all that dry. I'll see if he still has the card to get a pic of it to show.

That falls under the old saying.....if it seems too good to be true......finding an Utley patch in Philly for $10 would be a miracle to say the least. I hate to see anyone ripped off like that. I try to stress to all my customers that educating themselves before spending money will prevent a lot of problems. There are a lot of scumbags out there trying to take advantage of folks these days in our hobby. The internet protects the identity of sellers on sites like ebay and only aids them in stealing from honest collectors. Sadly, I'm afraid it will get a lot worse until something is done by card manufactureres to prevent things like this from happeneing. Press Pass has already started to picture the patch on the card in some of their 09 Nascar products to show exactly where it came from on the firesuit. Hopefully other card companies will follow that trend.

That is a cool thing, not only to prevent forgeries but also to let you know EXACTLY where it is coming from. I got recently a JJ Yeley card (actually 06) that has the sheet metal equivalent of a patch, and I can't figure out where on the car it's off of. I pulled it from a pack so I know it's legit, too.

Way to go OutSk8you!! The hobby needs more like you.

Atleast it was only $10 as it could have been $50-100. Good for Press Pass. Hope other card Companies will jump on that kind of bandwagon? But as he told me he will live & learn from his mistake.
