Default Truck Series Announcements

Circle Bar #10 truck team sold UPDATE 2 Jennifer Jo Cobb as driver; more info: Hearing that Circle Bar Racing's #10 truck team and equipment have been sold with all the details being finalized early next week. Expect to see an announcement on this new team and driver in the near future.(Nancy/Jayski)(12-31-2009)
UPDATE: Hearing that if everything falls into place [as expected], Jennifer Jo Cobb will be the driver for the #10 in 2010.(12-31-2009)
UPDATE 2: Circle Bar announced plans to liquidate its #10 operation and focus solely on Rick Crawford's #14 in 2010, and sources tell Sirius NASCAR Radio's Sirius Speedway with Dave Moody that Cobb has secured the backing of a major mid-western construction company to purchase those trucks and equipment. Cobb placed a deposit on the operation last week, with payment expected to be completed later today. Cobb said the decision whether to run the full season "belongs to me. It depends on how much of the money is left after we buy everything, and how much additional sponsorship we can find. I expect that we will run them all. I'm tired of going to the track hoping to make the race. I want to go to the track knowing that we have the equipment to make the race. I want my goal to be to run up front." Veteran NASCAR Nationwide Series driver Mike Harmon confirmed today that he will step back from his driving duties to be involved in the operation, saying, "I'm going to run the team for them. They'll announce everything officially next week, but it should be a done deal by the end of business today.(Sirius-Speedway.com)(1-4-2010)

Waltrip/Wallace could run some truck races for Ballew: Waltrip, who is scheduled to run only select Cup events in 2010 with the Michael Waltrip Racing team he co-owns with Rob Kauffman, has been in discussions with team owner Billy Ballew about a full-time ride in the Camping World Truck Series, Ballew said in a phone interview with NASCAR News, Blogs, Race Schedules, Photos, Videos | SceneDaily.com on Monday morning. Waltrip, however, sounded less intent on a full Truck season when asked about his plans Monday afternoon. "He's working on sponsorship, and if it comes through, there's a pretty good chance I'll run a couple races for him," the two-time Daytona 500 champion said of Ballew. Ballew expects an announcement about Waltrip's future with BMM by Jan. 15 and is still in the process of securing funding for Waltrip and a second driver, Aric Almirola. Ballew said that Steve Wallace, who is slated to return to Rusty Wallace Racing in the Nationwide Series, is also "still in the mix" for a part-time Truck ride for BMM.(SceneDaily.com)(1-4-2010)

Ryan & Shane Sieg returning in 2010: According to team owner Pam Sieg, both Ryan & Shane Sieg [#39 & #93 Chevy respectively] will be in Daytona for the Camping World Truck Series season opener at Daytona Int'l Speedway on Friday, February 12th. Phillips to Kyle Busch Motorsports? Less than two weeks after announcing their plans for 2010, we are hearing Kyle Busch Motorsports has snagged longtime Truck Series crew chief Eric Phillips. Phillips is expected to take over duties for the #18 truck driven by Kyle Busch and Brian Ickler. Phillips joins KBM from Randy Moss Motorsports where he has been since 2005. Phillips was Dennis Setzer's crew chief during the '05 season when Setzer won four races and finished second in the points. Prior to that, Phillips led Travis Kvapil to Toyota's first NASCAR Camping World Truck Series win with the short lived Bang! Racing.(TheNASCARInsiders.com) [Recent past news regarding RMM is posted on the November Archives Page.](12-23-2009)

Gill & Fenton merge teams; plan to run partial truck schedule: Veteran NASCAR crew chief Danny Gill, has taken a big step forward in his career by merging with Fenton Racing to form Team Gill Racing. Along with his merger with Fenton Racing, based out of Tyler, Texas, Danny will be helping pave the way for rookie driver Lance Fenton to compete in the ARCA Re/Max Series and the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2010. Danny and Lance's racing debut will not be on a national level, but on an international level. The team will display their combined talents at the ASA Invitation only race at the 1.5-mile Phikasa Oval outside of Johannesburg, South Africa January 31, 2010. Upon arrival back in the United States Team Gill Racing will also field a car in the ARCA Re/Max Series race at DIS for Fenton's first superspeedway race of 2010. As of this release, Fenton is scheduled to compete in two ARCA Re/Max Series races and seven NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races during the 2010 season with Team Gill Racing.(Lance Fenton PR)(12-23-2009)

No NASCAR race at Milwaukee Mile in 2010: UPDATE 2 Auton expects race to be replaced: The Milwaukee Mile, the oldest continually operating motor speedway in the country, won't be hosting a national race in 2010. That was the word late Wednesday from Wisconsin State Fair Park officials, who said there would be no NASCAR or Indy Racing League racing next year at the famed Mile. "I'm sorry for this," was the message Susan Crane, chairwoman of the State Fair Park Board, said she wanted to tell race fans. "We tried to do everything we could to secure racing. But we're not giving up." The announcement is a blow to motorsports fans in the region and a blow to community pride. Both Crane and Craig Barkelar, the fair's interim executive director, said they hoped to bring national racing back to the Mile in 2011. Crane and Barkelar said that, after Wisconsin Motorsports, the race promoter that staged races last summer, went out of business, they tried to negotiate with four different promoters. State Fair officials said they hoped to generate some revenue next year with car clubs, driving schools and some tire and car testing. There is also the hope of staging some regional races next year. NASCAR had scheduled two races for next June: the Nationwide Series and the Camping World Truck series. NASCAR now is backing away, though the race body has not yet made that official.(in part from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel also a story at BizTimes)(12-16-2009)
UPDATE: "NASCAR was aware of this possibility, and we have been working on alternate opportunities on the 2010 schedule for both series and will announce those soon," Ramsey Poston, NASCAR's managing director for corporate communications said in a statement.(Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel)(12-17-2009)
UPDATE 2: From a Nate Ryan twitter: During an interview on Sirius NASCAR Radio's The Morning Drive, NCWTS Director Wayne Auton says he expects the Milwaukee race will be replaced on the schedule. Auton didn't list any potential replacement tracks but said he hoped news would come "soon" that the schedule would stay at 25 races in 2010.(Nate Ryan-Twitter)(12-22-2009)

From Speed:
TRUCKS: Jason White To Run Full 2010 Season
Written by: Media Release
01/15/2010
Mooresville, NC
SS Green Light Racing announced veteran NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Jason White will drive the team's No. 23 Dodge Ram for the full 2010 NCWTS season beginning at Daytona International Speedway on February 12th.

Long-time supporter GunBroker.com will sponsor White with ASI Limited on the quarter panels at select events.

In 2001, the Virginia native made his debut in the NCWTS and ran partial schedules for numerous teams until joining the series full time in 2007. The No. 23 team will run primarily Dodge trucks throughout the 2010 season and has upgraded much of its equipment from last season.

“We bought a new truck that we are going to run at Daytona. We’re looking forward to getting the season started,” White said. “We've done a lot of wind tunnel on it. I think we have a good shot at running up front.”

Doug Howe, who has been White’s crew chief for the last two seasons will again lead the No. 23 team. This year Howe will have the added guidance of Bobby Dotter, who will move from the pit box of the SS Green Light No. 07 team to the General Manager role joining Howe on race day.

White had a breakout season finishing sixteenth in points while scoring two top-five and four top-ten finishes in 2009. “We had some great runs last year and building on our program from last year with Doug and the guys from SS Green Light Racing will make us even stronger in 2010. It's going to be a great season for us. We're excited.”

“It's a new team. But it's a team that has been in existence a couple years. We’ve added some talented people and having Bobby’s experience will just make us better.”

Steve Urvan, CEO of GunBroker.com, believes great things are on the horizon for White
and the team. “Jason has been with GunBroker.com Racing since 2006. We believe in him and are finally able to put him in equipment worthy of his talent. Our goal for 2010 is two wins and a top-five finish in points. Ambitious but we think it’s possible with our combined team efforts.”
“In 2009 our best race was Las Vegas where we qualified 3rd and finished 3rd. SS Green Light Racing had their best season ever with some solid finishes and a bunch of top-ten starts,” Urvan explained. “In 2010 GunBroker.com Racing is bringing one of the best fleets of race trucks and a great Crew Chief in Doug Howe to SS Green Light Racing. This combined equipment, knowledge and experience will allow us to field a first class competitive race team.”

Ken Smith, co-owner of SS Green Light Racing and President of ASI Limited is expecting great things this year. “We are excited to be reunited with Jason White and GunBroker.com. Even though we were not racing together in 2009, we watched each other closely and the progress both entities made on and off the track. We talked throughout the year and we both felt that combining our equipment, technical resources and sponsors was a logical step in the development of our teams. This collaboration will create a robust effort that will put this team in the limelight in 2010.” Smith also added, “We are still planning to campaign the No. 07 truck in 2010 and we should be announcing the driver lineup for that team shortly.”

Ok guys I have opened for comments. Was trying to get it rolling before I did so. Please make all posts and comments relevant to the Truck Series. I want this is thread to be used for all players of the game and help them make their selections. I am working on a list of drivers for 2010 but nobody has a decent updated one yet.
