Im not big on the cup drivers running in this series or the trucks either but if I was a cup driver and had the chance to do it, I would too. Its valuable seat time and experience.

I believe it was Clint Bowyer who said a monkey could win in that (#18) car. Well over the past few years, Kyle has been winning nearly every week in that car, now Joey is winning nearly every week in that car. JGR has their crap together on the NW side, I just wish it wasn't a Cup guy in that car every week.

It was a decent race I thought. It was a long day for me seeing Danica spin 3 times..

But I think that first spin cost her a top 5 finish for sure.

The issue remains that certain drivers aren't flipping the switch for the cup series. Joey has all this success this year in the Nationwide series, yet only one top-five in Cup? It's obvious that he isn't getting anything out of that seat-time.

--

EDIT: I am sure people will call me a hypocrite (or think about calling me one) because I'm a Kyle Busch fan. I am more proud that Kyle Busch has stepped away from running all these Nationwide races, focusing on the Cup series, and having a great team in the Nationwide series then if he was the one in the #18 right now.

Umm yeah I don't think he did that voluntarily...I think Gibbs/the sponsors had something to say after him getting in trouble in the lower series. Remember how Z-Line didn't want him in their car those last few races of 2011? Just saying, if Kyle hadn't had the run in at Texas, he'd still be running 30+ NW races and 15+ truck races.

Um, no? You are right in the truck aspect, but wrong in the Nationwide aspect. Kyle Busch doesn't run "30+ Nationwide Races", hasn't since 2010. He only ran 14 last season.

If Gibbs and the sponsors had something to say about it, then Joe Gibbs wouldn't have been caught by surprise when he was informed about Kyle running his own car. JD Gibbs gave Kyle Busch permission to drive the car for KBM in 2012. That seems pretty clear that he is running the #54 car voluntarily. Facts are funny, aren't they?

EDIT:

Here is the quote:

Quote:
One conflict: Kyle Busch is under the Sprint Cup direction of team owner Joe Gibbs.

Gibbs joked Monday at Charlotte Motor Speedway that he "probably would have argued against that" if he'd been in the meeting in which team President J.D. Gibbs (his oldest son) approved Kyle racing against his Cup employer.
"He and J.D. got together, and I said, 'We're doing what?' " Gibbs said. "I figured after something like that has been decided, I'm all for it.

"One of the concerns was he's got a number of people working over there, and you don't want to see them in trouble. He wants to build that program.

"I'm not going to enjoy racing against him. I'd have been a no. I probably would have been overruled, though."

Joe Gibbs wasn't even going to say no because he doesn't want Kyle in the lower series, he was going to say no because he doesn't want to have to race Kyle. I enjoy facts, don't you? ;)

EDIT: And M&Ms is on Kyle's car in the Nationwide series. So, seems they don't have an issue with it.

He should've had a top 5, he was running 5th on the 2nd to last restart but Paul Menard and Kurt Busch got terrible restarts just ahead of Brian and held up the inside line.
