#2[/URL]858264]Your point is true but if truex jr. fails to win any races while mwr is doing as well as it has been then I think he did not have a great career. No one will remember his top 5s or 10s they'll only remember how many races he won.

An excellent point. Who remembers Robby Gordon running out of gas in turn 4, taking the white flag with a 2 second lead over 2nd, leading the Indy 500 in 1999? He finished 4th that year, but it was his year to win. I remember that because it could have been something that made something else happen. You never know what one turn will bring you 10 years down the road.

So, I'll add Robby Gordon's name to this list. The guy was listed along with Jeff Gordon back in late 80's early 90's as the 2 next big stars. Robby has had amazing success and championships in just about every series he's ever been in, but never found that NASCAR consistency. Leaving RCR was his downfall. He should have stayed put and kept his mouth shut. Now, his NASCAR career is pretty much over.

Nadeau never got a fair shake at Hendrick. They dumped him as quick as possible because of some bad luck. Could've turned into a top-10 driver if he had the chance.

Even though he's my long time sprint car favorite driver Steve Kinser along with Kenny Bernstiens failed attempt at sprint cup should be on that list.

He wasn't a young talent, but I enjoyed saying his name although he only raced 4-5 times...

Im sorry but a lot of people you listed had good busch and truck series careers. If this thread was about not having cup careers many would belong but a lot of these guys had championships and plenty of wins.

You could write a book of young talents that didn't pan out, sadly its even more common now days if the TRUE talents get over looked or screwed over for guys who have money and less talent (Won't name names but I'm sure many can guess the few I'm speaking of). If you don't have the $$ you don't have the ride. That's what I was told from an ARCA owner himself. I had 10 grand saved up and a PT sponsor but that's not nearly enough even for one ARCA race. So many talents get wasted because of this.

However I do feel guys like Kyle Larsons, Dylan Kwaisneski, Bubba W and Chase (etc) will be able to eventually make it to Cup and I believe all mentioned will do wonders in Sprint Cup even if they don't have sponsors I believe for once, just once their talent alone will get them there again like it use to be.
