Erin Crocker teams with husband Ray Evernham on sprint car ride for 2010#
Erin Crocker, who became the first female driver to win a World of Outlaws sprint car race in 2004, announced on her Twitter account today that she will be returning to sprint car racing on a part-time basis.

Crocker’s initial Twitter message read “is super excited to go sprint car racing in 2010 with @skiprec!” and was followed with “more details to follow on sprint car deal... it will be a part time tho... love how @skiprec thinks its cheaper than shoes :) Got him fooled.” The “@skiprec” account belongs to her husband, former NASCAR Sprint Cup winning car owner and current ESPN commentator Ray Evernham.

Crocker, 28, won a preliminary night World of Outlaws feature at the Tulare Thunderbowl on October 29, 2004, making her the first – and currently only – female driver to win a race on the top sprint car circuit. She previously had been named Knoxville Nationals and World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year.

Starting with the 2005 season, Crocker turned her attention to stock car racing after joining Evernham’s driver development program. She left NASCAR in 2008 after word became public of the relationship between the two. She ran a limited number of sprint car races in the second half of 2009 along with working as a pit reporter for SPEED. She also announced earlier in the month that she would be working as an instructor at the Dirt Track Racing School held at Ray Evernham Enterprises in Mooresville, NC.

Only bad part I see about it is that its only part time. I always hate seeing when a driver cannt run the full season.

It's better than what she has had and if she does well, she may get more races. Ya never know. I hope so anyway.
I was checking my Twitter account and she is in the process of restoring the car she won the WoO show in. She is a busy lady all of a sudden. Restoring race cars, driving some shows, and teaching sprint car driving. I have a ton of respect for her.

Well Im sure most racers are only doing the part time thing because of the economy
