I do not know if this has been asked before and if it has forgive me for the redundancy of the question. What is your favorite racing movie and give reasons as to why it is your favorite. I have two that I like and they are about 40 to 50 years apart in the making. (1) Days of Thunder, I have often told people that this movie is among both the most unbelievable and also on some other points the most believable racing movie I have ever seen. On the negative side, showing a car in that time frame being built in a barn was stupid, also the way they could bounce off walls and still come back and compete for and win races was a joke. On the positive side, showing the fears that are felt my most all if not all drives at one time or another was about as real as any racing movie I have ever seen. I give this movie a C for on track and in garage realism, however, I give the movie an A for the inside personal story in the movie Overall, I give the movie a B or almost B+. (2) Big Wheel, one of the very early racing movies featuring Mickey Rooney. The story of a Mid West racer coming to Indy to run at the track that took the life of his father. I liked the movie that had shots of Jack McGrath in it. A lot of crash scenes, not very realistic, however, a great movie considering it was made in the 1940s. I give the movie a C+ verging on a B. | ![]() | ||

LeMans and Grand Prix. The cinematography and the story in each was excellent, and the racing was pretty real as well.

I don't have a favorite racing movie. Every single one I've seen sucks. EVERY one. I think 'Cars' is the only one that's half-way decent. Maybe even Talladega Nights. But both have their negative stereotypes. Given, I haven't seen the older racing movies, so I can't comment on those. But of the ones I have seen, including Days of Thunder.... junk.

Steve McQueen in Bullet has to be one of the best classic movies made. While it's not a race movies the chase scenes are great considering how old this movie is. I think I've seen it about 20 times now:driver:

I shouldn't say it, I may be attacked for it, but... I think Talladega Nights is really funny. I even have most of the diecasts and the Ricky Bobby hero card.
