Pirates Throwbacks

I'm a big fan of discussing jerseys and uniforms in sports. And I saw the Pirates were wearing these tonight:



I'd like to ask Ken what his opinion is on them. Also, is this the first time they have worn these throwbacks this year? I think they look alright, they'd look really good with older style cleats, that would kinda complete the throwback look.

Not a big fan of the throwbacks in baseball (unless it's to commemorate a specific game) just for this reason... yuck.

Selby. I like them, but liked they better when they were current. Those throwbacks are a little different than the originals, but I can't quite put my finger on what is different.
They had all gold, all black, they mixed them, and they had a set that was made in Japan, that was white w/black and gold pinstripes. They even mixed them w/the black and gold shirts and pants at times. Ya never knew what they were gonna be wearing!




I had a pic of the all black as well, but the link is bad.
I miss the colorful uni days myself.
Like the Indians red and blue uni's, Oakland's all green w/green sturrups and yellow sanitary hose.
My favorite Pirate uni's of all time, are the ones from 70'-71'. They were white/gray w/black, white and "mustard yellow" stripes on the sleeves and around the neck.
They had black, white and mustard stirrup socks. They were NOT the bright gold that they use now. They were the original double knit uniforms, and the originals were pull overs, and had NO FLY!! LOL!
Never liked the "can" style hats as you see in the pics. I also liked the hats that went w/the uni's that I said I liked so well. They were mustard yellow, w/a black bill. classic and clean.

Those look like the Phillies alternate uniforms, which I think look awesome. They are an off white, say Phillies on the shirts and they wear a red and blue hat w/them.
One of my all time favorite uniforms was the late 70's Angels uniforms. White home, and gray away, with red and blue trim and lettering.
