Default No matter how much you know, there's always more to learn about

Yesterday I went to the Rhinebeck Spring car show. The best part of the day was seeing a 60 Edsel in person for the first time ever. But I also got a ton a cool stuff in the vendor areas. I bought 65 packs of NASCAR cards for $1 each, and about 40 cars. Two of the cars were chrome chase cars, also $1 each! While some of the cars I got are custom stash, most of these are actually new to my collection. I didn't start buying every version of every car until 2000, so if I had one I did not get the others. Now I am getting them cheap when I see them, and all these loose cars cost me $1 each.

Here is what I got, well, most of it.

The 1997 Ricky Rudd car at the very top is interesting. I bought one of them when it was new, but back then I didn't know enough to catch the difference between the 1996 and 1997 versions and (VERY) crudely repainted it as the #78 car from 1997, so since late 97-until yesterday I did not own a 1997 Ricky Rudd car from Racing Champions!

This 1990 Rusty Wallace car is a good one. It's the original first RC Pontiac-and it is only the second car in my collection on this body, the only other one is the 1989 Kyle Petty car (white and blue) from the Sears set. The other #27 Millers I have are both on the body Diecast Diegest lists as first Pontiac-it's actually the second. I need to dust it some more LOL

The two Chrome Chase cars, 1999 Jeremy Mayfield and 2003 Johnny Benson. The other car is the 1998 Signature Edition chrome, not sure if that is really a chase car, the signature cars were always more easy to find in chrome.

I think this one is a fantasy car, not sure, so I bought it. Picture blurred, sorry.

Here's a set I never saw before, I did not join RCCA until 1998 so that must be why.

I got this Ernie Irvan Chrome Chase car for $10. I refuse to pay more then $10 for a chrome chase car.

Here's an ASA promo I never saw before. This has to be Dave Sensiba's only car, lol

And, HERE is the one that stumps me.
It looks like a regular 1998 Terry Labonte car from Racing Champions-nothing special there...

Yet...it's serially numbered? Huh? No other basic RC cars were EVER numbered on the chassis, so I am stumped!

Great pick-ups Billy, like that Rusty car. Can't beat them for $1.

Thanks guys. I am still pondering the numbered Terry car, I thought I knew everything there was to know-and had everything there was to have-about 98 RC basic cars. But nope!

Texas3, yes that is Davey's 1990 car. Specifically the Daytona 500 car (later it had white outlines around all the gold) and was only available as the RC basic model. It's actually the second one I have, the first is showing signs of metal fatigue, which is when it cracks and breaks. RC issues from their first supplier were especially prone to that!
