Default New Madden game tackles the past

New Madden game finally revealed, tackles the past - plugged in - Yahoo! Games

With only three months left until they turn Times Square into a frathouse, EA Sports has been oddly quiet about the next Madden game. Sure, we know the cover athletes, but seriously EA, what's "in the game?"

According to IGN, a lot. Today the site posted an exclusive, hands-on look at Madden NFL 10, including a full rundown of the game's brand new Pro-Tak feature. Basically, the system simulates those huge gang tackles that often occur in real games when a running back plows into a bunch of defenders. Up to nine players from either team can join in these epic tackles, inching the pile forwards or backwards. All that's missing is the late great announcer John Facenda (ie. "The Voice of God") making awesome analogies between
.

In truth, the gang tackle is an idea that has yet to be realized in any Madden game, and one that has IGN's Nate Ahearn genuinely thrilled. "Pro-Tak – as much as it pains me to repeat an EA marketing line – really does make you feel like you're fighting for every yard," he wrote.

The IGN piece delves much deeper than just Pro-Tak, covering everything from the overhauled graphics to the new injury mechanic, which lets gamers keep injured players on the field at the increased chance of worsening the injury with another tough hit. Multiple concussions, here I come.

Ok here's a little information I found on the new madden game...

Procedural Awareness – System which allows each player to realistically follow the ball using head, eyes, neck and shoulders

New Ratings Philosophy – Every rating has been re-scaled for a more noticeable difference between players

Quarterback Improvements – Layered Blending, new QB ratings and more realistic QB drop animation.

WR/DB Interaction – Improved route running and man coverage & new WR/DB jostling

Sim Style Gameplay – New game speed slider, lowered global game speed & more realistic pass Bold textspeeds

Player Momentum – More realistic acceleration, deceleration, planting & turn rates

Depth of Field – All new system which will not only improve the visual quality of the game but will allow a broadcast experience unlike previous versions

New Creation Features– New accessories available including never before seen in Madden: QB towels, handwarmers, new realistic gloves, and arm bands

Addition of the Wildcat offense – Players can now run the wildcat offense.

New Pocket presence - Offensive lines will now make a more realistic pocket around the QB.

Custom QB throwing-style animations - Different for every quarterback

Throwing It Away - QBs can now throw passes into the dirt rather than just chucking it out of bounds

Game Speed Changes - Game speed has been slowed down by about 10%.

Madden IQ Changes - Madden IQ remains however it will be something calculated primarily in the background as opposed to the intrusive nature of last year.

New Gang Tackling - Multiple players will now gang up on the ball carrier to drag him down

Association 3.0 - Now players can create a team from scratch

Thug Life- Pacman? Vick? Stallworth? Take your pick.... new superstar mode allows you to play your game on and off the field. Construction not for you (Vick) then set up a meeting with the commisioner himself. Or relive your carer on an episode of pros vs. joes

New Injury System -delays add suspense and a comparison of the backups allows the player to decide if a worse injury is the better option.
