Well, its most likely not EA Sports who will produce it. The most likely thing is that EA will NOT renew its exclusive contract with NASCAR that ends this year. The fact that they are already axing NASCAR 2010 is enough of a hint that the company may have made a bad deal. Now rumors are floating around that Monster games (the maker of NASCAR Heat) may produce a NASCAR sim game for the computer in perhaps 2011, which would be the first new NASCAR game for the PC (possibly will be on the next-gen systems also because I think Microsoft is planning for a release of the 3rd iteration of the Xbox within the next two years, with Sony not too far behind). Despite the prospect of a new game, one of the workers at Monster said that there will most likely be a game (given EA does not renew), but its not guaranteed that it will be a sim game as opposed to an arcade game.

Good news. I thought NASCAR Heat for the playstation was ok. Not great. Racing at Daytona was fun, but the physics of other tracks were way off. My favorite NASCAR franchise, aside from the NASCAR Racing series (Papyrus), was NASCAR Dirt to Daytona by Infogrames. I played that game a lot.

I for one liked Heat for the PC, and NASCAR Racing 3 (both of which I still play). The other games had the feeling that the car was being pulled always towards the inside wall.

It's not that EA made a bad deal-- it's just that they couldn't make a good game.

I have never played it, but NASCAR 03' for the PC seems to be the benchmark as far as NASCAR games from what I understand. Wasn't it made by Papyrus? It's the one where you can download templates and paint your own cars etc. There are all kinds of online leagues and guys who set up websites doing fantasy and actual paint schemes. Kind of a closet industry almost.

NASCAR Racing 2003 Season is considered the king of NASCAR sims, but that doesn't mean that 2002 season, 4 or 3 should be overlooked. Despite the graphics being a bit oldish, I prefer 3 over the newer, much more expensive Papy games. (2003 goes for about $120, or it did a little while back).

I still play NASCAR 3. It's quite fun and not as difficult to master as 2003 Season.

Nothing compares to NR2003 for the PC.
