Default Die-Casts Paint Finishes?

Ok, I have a few diecasts (1:24),

Could someone explain all the types.
Here's what I know,

standard paint,
color chrome,
Liquid ?
Brushed metal,

then the
gold,
silver,
nickle,
copper,
mesma.

How or what color would be replaced in a car that was done in, let's say copper?

That's sort of the info I'm looking for.

Have I missed any type's?

Some I get, because I have them.

Thanks
Steve "Rapala-Guru"

It is all up to the manufacturer, and the sponsers etc. It can be any combination, and some of them are not the best selection im my opinion, but they are what they are. For example, the Jr. Citizen Soldier white Gold car. I would have made the silver part of the scheme the white gold, but they decided to make the black part the white gold.

No matter what finish a car has, it all boils down to the production # of the car. The color is not replaced per say, the special finish highlights or accents the color.

Tell me that the white gold does not replace the black portions of the citizen Soldier car and I will tell you you are legally blind.

Just to be clear, Gump is right. The intentions is to highlight the scheme, but they select a color and replace it w/the alternate finish such as white gold, copper etc., so as to highlight the scheme.
But I gather from your post you knew that. Again as far as how it is decided, again, it is up to the teams, the sponsers, the manufacturer etc. Also again, I would like to add, they are not all that good at making the coices for what would look the best asthetically.

Ok, I may have messed up in how I asked,
let me try again.

Standard paint I know how it looks,
Liquid is different, How?

Color chrome, I have, so I get how it looks. Some colors I think look better than others.

Mesma, From what I gather, it reflects light and appears to be different shades. I haven't seen one in my hands, so I rally don't know.

The white gold, gold or Plat are some versions that I don't believe I will get into.

The other metal finishes are interesting, I just don't have something to judge it from.

That's the sort of info I was looking for.

however, you bring up as have I.
The different 'outlets' for these diecast.

Are ARC cars done in certain finishes?

I believe QVC has a few certain finishes (just not sure about all of them)

And the RCCA has their's (not sure about all of them too)

I hope I'm not asking to many questions?

Here's another example,

2008 #18 Kyle Busch M&M's Standard paint scheme looks different from the Liquid version in what manner?

I'm pretty sure that there would be some scheme's that wouldn't look good in a certain finishes to each person.
Also, I'm not really into the production numbers (as far as what I collect) I understand the reasoning.

I mostly collect if it a cool looking car, it 'pops' to me in some manner. Sometimes I'll get a driver I like even if the car doesn't 'pop' like Mikey's Standard never change Napa scheme. Which is a reason his 2009 scheme is one that I have put on my 'want list'

I'll do my best.
Colorchrome looks like a chrome car, w/a tinted clear coat over it tinted the color they want the car to be.
Originally liquid, looked like a shinier paint finish, but over time has began to look allot like colochrome to me.
Brushed metal is exactly as it sounds, brushed metal where the base color of the car would be.
Mesma chrome is kinda like a pearl finish on silver paint. As the light hits it it throws of light blue and light pink overtones.
Chrome looks like chrome, white gold looks like chrome and platinum looks like chrome.

my understanding was that liquid color was SUPPOSED to and started out looking like 'wet paint' finish. In the end it looked more like a chromish color cast...and to make that more confusing, color chrome does essentially the same thing. I have a pic of the bud announcement cars. One in regular and one in color chrome which was advertised as "molten red" but it even says on the box color chrome. KK "Born on Date" 08' Bud COT

as to Poping...that's my method with the special finishes. I have a dark chrome Monster Robby Gordon that just looks plain cool. I have a dark chrome 911 Sharpie that looks just like the original until you get up close...and my observation is that with the brushed metal or copper or gold, they typically replace the dominant paint color with the metal effect. Some it looks great, some it looks like Crap.

My opinion exactly!!!!! The Kyle Busch Snickers White Gold is awesome looking. I would rather have the non-raced version of that car in white gold, but they didn't make it so I will have to buy what is available. Like I said earlier. I would think that the Jr. Citizen Soldier car would look better in white gold if the silver was what was white gold but they chose to make the black the white gold part. Don't get me wrong, it still looks better than most alternate finishes, and I will probably still get it eventually but I am not as hot after it as I would be if the finishes were reversed. I buy these cars based on the "appearance" factor. Other than that, I prefer how it looked on the track.
