Question How reliable are production #'s?

Well I know this seems like a idiotic question......

Why is it that a 2007 Kevin Harvick Elvis car is worth no less than $600 with production # of 724. (Eveyone claims it's wicked Rare)

Kevin Harvick Elvis Reeses Car Signed!! RAREST Car! - eBay (item 230359003523 end time Nov-16-09 17:35:00 PST)

Yet I have a 2004 Terry Labonte "Got Milk" Car with a production # of 288 and it's not worth spit?

Action Terry Labonte #5 Kellogs Got Milk 2004 Chevy NIB - eBay (item 150380515646 end time Nov-13-09 13:56:56 PST)

Same with my 1979 Richard Petty car....production of 480

RCCA 1/24 RICHARD PETTY #43 1979 OLDS ** ELITE ** 1/480 - eBay (item 140349868496 end time Dec-01-09 17:30:04 PST)

I MUST be missing something here!

I don't think you're missing anything. I believe that, basically, it comes down to supply and demand. After all, all you have to do is look at Dale Jr. His stuff sells like crazy. But he hasn't been doing all THAT well. That's a marketing ploy coming into play too. Along with name recognition.

The Elvis was only given to employee's. Terry Labonte never sells worth crap except for the Piedmont Airlines and a couple others. Petty stuff doesn't sell like it used to.

JPM is correct there. Petty stuff used to be a big seller. But, not as much any longer.

Basically it boils down to this. Whatever the market will bear is what people are going to pay. Shoot...the Peter Max Earnhardt car used to sell for very high dollar. But, not so much now. Maybe it will go up but probably not anytime soon.

Danica Patrick SIGNED car 1:24 scale *1st Win!* NIB - eBay (item 130341351805 end time Nov-08-09 10:27:32 PST)

A little over a year ago you would be hard pressed to give these away......

The Kevin Harvick Elvis car is rare and very desirable, because it was not made available through the Dealer network, QVC, or Trackside, and in essance because of that was not something the Public had access too. I believe the car was produced and given to Reese Candy and Harvick employees only. The fact that it is an "Elvis" piece also contributes to its value.

Why He was part of the Hendrick team at one time and was pretty successful.....way more so than Jr has been.
Least as good as Martin has been. He wasn't just a nobody like Mears turned out to be.

You are certainly correct on that point. Personally I would rather have something that's NOT produced in th 150,000 range.
