Default Race Wins: Autographed or no

It seems to be the trend to get the race wins autographed as often as possible. This makes a lot of people happy but it also annoys a lot of people who would like a clean windshield.

What do YOU think?

I perfer them autographed, but I can see why some people would rather:
1. get the car signed themselves
2. would rather have a clean car

I think they should give you the option. An autograph is nice occasionally, but not all the time.

id rather get the autograph myself, but i do think that they can auto the regular schemes i would prefer race win no auto. I thin kthe fact its a special scheme is good enough keep them clean to showcase the scheme.

I like 'em with autographs, I'd like to get the autographs myself, but the closest race track from me is a little over 1,000 miles away. I don't get to the race track as often as most.......

It seems like the autographed win cars are being done so on drivers that havent been selling well. Hopefully Smoke's win last night isnt autographed.

Ive never taken one of the cars apart before so i dont know how easy it is to swap out a windshield but perhaps one option is to have them autograph blank windshields and than you could in theory put it on whichever of your cars you wanted, or when its time for a new die to be made, have it include a "tear off" like the real cars and get the tear offs autographed

just throwing out ideas to build on

if the car needs help being produced, they should do what ever they need to make it, like the collector pins, piece of tire or driver auto. the reutimann charlotte win, not many people would not have probably bought the car if it did not have the added auto.

First and foremost, collect for the reasons you want to collect and what makes you happy. As a Dealer and Collector myself, my feeling is an autograph makes the car more of a collectible and in the long term you'll be better off with an autographed collection, then not. There are several factors that play a role in making collectibles desirable; production run and availability, condition of product, history of the piece, and its uniqueness to others. Taking these factors into consideration with Action diecast, lets face it even with a low run of under a 1000 cars produced, there are still a 1000 cars out there in circulation. More than likely, the history of the piece has already been defined and just about every car produced comes shipped in mint condition, so that really only makes one thing left we as collectors can influence control over..."What will make my piece more unique than the other 1000 pieces out there?" Take your piece and make it more unique by having the driver autograph it, you'll not only make it more unique but also add to the pieces' history. In the two plus years, my company has been an Authorized MA Dealer, we've had some really neat cars autographed by various Drivers. These cars have a significant history in NASCAR, Kyle Bush's win at Britol (debut of the COT) and Atlanta (first official win in NASCAR by Toyota), Tony Stewart's win at Talledega last year (that Subway car was Tony's first special paint scheme outside the orange, black, or white Home Depot colors), and I can go on and on. Ultimately, the point being, these examples illustrate how to take a specific piece and add to its uniqueness, while adding to the history of the piece. In the end, the bottom line is unless you are collecting for financial value, collect however you want and what's going to make you happy...but for the sake of responding to this topic, I say collect them and get them autographed, as the years go by, you'll be happy you did.
