Default Clear Coat

I have heard a variety of different things to use as a clear coat for customs....futures floor polish and Testors clear coat...I dont know what to use....I picked up this triple thick brush on glaze that does not yellow from deco-art but I am not sure if it will work the way I want it to....any suggestions on what to clear coat with?

Your best bet would be to ask either Paul or NEW2.

The best clear is Tamiya, acrylic. It will not yellow in time, whereas the Future and Testors WILL. (ESPECIALLY the Testors!)

For 1/64 work I don't use any other clear.

I use the futures with great results. It is an acrylic polymer that has a self leveling process...hides brush strokes and dries very hard. Doesn't interact with decals from my experiences. I have some cars with white paint in excess of 6 years and haven't had yellowing yet.

NO! Enamel clear will yellow in the jar before you can use it! Enamel white is bad too, avoid that. Go to tamiyausa.com and you can find their charts of where stores sell their product close to you.

Has anyone tried automotive paint. Should be able to get the exact Pantone color for the paint scheme and can use a device call a Pre-Val to appy it like spray paint

Do you put the clear on with the windows in or do you put the windows back in afterward?

I clear with the windows in on Team Caliber or high level Action cars. (not WC). The windows should be shiny over the entire area, as all bracing is on the inside, and that makes them more accurate.

WC cars with plain clear windows the windows are in but not cleared.

I don't use automotive paint because the fumes bother my mom's asthma (probably spelled wrong), despite the fact that I spray outside, it still gets her, so I don't use it.
