Default What do I do now?

Most of you know I'm making a 1/24 Hamlin custom. I got my donor car today, took the body off the frame, popped out all the windows (a few of the pieces that held them in broke but I don't really think that matters) and removed the hood and trunk.

Is there anything else I need to do before stripping the paint? I know I have to remove the fin but I'm not sure how to do it without it breaking? Help, tips, directions would be appreciated.

I've never worked with 1/24s but you have to remove the wing before stripping, the paint stripper WILL eat away the plastic.

Anyone know how to remove the wing without it breaking? What about the front clip too?

Front clip there's a few screw's. You can undo to get the splitter and bottom section out of the front, wing.. Umm the wing I need to think about it.

You can pop the wing out from the inside of the decklid. Use a pick to push the plastic through the small hole. The mounts enter the trunk lid with plastic through one small hole on each mount.

You could probably get by with leaving the bottom section on but the splitter is definately gonna have to come off. I found it easiest to cut the top of the braces off from the bottom section of the bumper with a sharp exacto knife. Be careful where you place your fingers though, I stabbed the shit out of my index finger and the blood was flowing. Leave the braces on and mask them, then repaint the splitter to desired color.

You should also remove the exhaust piece on the right side, roof flaps and the piece under the roof flaps.

Another way you can get the wing off is by taking an exacto knife and gently prying under the tabs from the exterior where it connects to the decklid. Really REALLY Gently! When you start to here a crackling noise stop and use a sawing motion but not hard enough to cut through the tab. Then do the same thing on the other side of the same tab and work it out of there. It's a lot of trial and error!

Almost forgot, you need to take off the roof cam and the hood/decklid pins.
