PayPal Question??????

Hey,
i use paypal for everything and never have had a problem, but have a question about buyer protection. if i pay for something through paypal and the seller screws me, is their away to get my money back or would i just be screwed out of my money. Please help.

Any purchase made outside of ebay and involving PayPal is not guaranteed to protect you, like an ebay purchase that is Buyer Protection eligible. Pay Pal does have a Buyer Protection Dispute process, but in very simple terms that process is handled "case by case" based on the totality of the circumstances. My recommendation would be if you decide on the purchase through Pay Pal is to protect yourseld as much as possible. Have the Seller send you a Pay Pal invoice for the purchase. Make sure the Seller does not confuse it with a "Request for Money." In a formal invoice the Buyer uses a template offered by Pay Pal to create an itemized list and description of what is being sold and for what price? The invoice will include contact information for the Seller too. There is a section where the Seller can include additional notes per your request, such as a request to ship with insurance and Delivery Confirmation, which will also protect both of you. The Buyer will need your PayPal email address to complete the invoice.

I would think this information, in conjunction with corresponding emails would be good proof that you made a legitimate purchase in good faith, in the event you ran into problems and needed to file a complaint.

I had a issue on another Diecast Forum and paid through PAYPAL and I did recieved a refund after about a week.

Best Protection for buyers is to use a Credit Card thru Paypal.

I've been screwed on paypal transactions to the tune of $200. By the time the dispute was processed the seller no longer had the funds in the account to get back. After the open case time period expired paypal closed the case and I was SOL. I did however get the funds back via the credit card company instead.
