Experienced custom makers can paint wheels. I would think there would be too many changes to just alter the 2011 car, plus this car didn't have flat paint.

@Dubbs, I don't see anything wrong with that. That was an awesome ride, and by making the car and having it sit on the shelf, I think it would pay tribute to those affected. If you make, please post photos.

I think they should produce the car with some of the money going to "cause". Lionel is passing the boat on this one. I don't bitch at them much but this is a complete oversight on their behalf. Hell, Lionel could make them and then The 78 team could sale them at there store. Even if it was a gold series car, they should put for the effort.

They would have to get approval from each family of those who passed away.

Selling them at the store would be an outstanding idea. I too believe they would do well, and not just because it was a neat paint scheme, but it is personal to the nation and the Aurora community to watched as this terrible act was brought to light. Great point you made.

As much news publicity as those affected have received to this point, I believe they would be on board. It was pay salute to those who were affected. Just my opinion.

It would be wrong if someone made the car and made money off of it.

If someone makes a custom of this car I'd hope it'd solely be for themselves or even given out as gifts to certain people but I would have a huge problem if I seen somebody make this car, and put it up on eBay and make 200$ off a horrible tragedy like this.

If Lionel even made a version of it I wouldn't even feel right about it. Unless the money made from the car went to the families effected by this tragedy but that is the only way I would see this being made and not stepping over a line.

This post contains 1 eBay auto-link(s) for your convenience.

Yup, I sell cars and collectibles, antiques and such. Shame on me!

If you don't know me or my story, don't act like you do. I do things for a reason, and for a good one. I do what it takes to help my family. At all costs.

I don't see a big issue at all, multiple cars have been made for tragedies, they run as tributes, dont feel bad at all, it was a very nice gesture and I believe a great diecast to own

I like the idea.

I think Action should make the car and then donate one to each of the 12 families.
