Default Locking of threads...

Join us to remove this advertisement.
To say the least, I am a little pissed off at this latest locked thread. It seems that when the least "offensive" thing gets said about a deadbeat/slacker member (who hasn't said a thing to defend himself in said thread), moderators feel the need to jump in and defend him themselves.

DCZ has a long, proud history of protecting its members from people like this. Not only should this thread me left open, but members should be encouraged to speak their minds. Why are the members who have done nothing wrong being penalized and told not to post while the member who has continuously broke rules on Ebay and possibly lied about his age being protected? This is just wrong.

This is not the first time a thread has been locked too early. I remember in the early days of DCZ when threads were never locked or deleted for any reason. In addition, I haven't really seen anyone piling on this kid; just member simply asking for a reasonable explanation; one which yet has to be provided.

I spent a short time as a moderator, and I never locked threads. I never banned members. If I had any issues, I always discussed them with @racersimage or one of the super-moderators.

What the hell is happening to DCZ?

In this day an age everyone is so worried about offending someone else that everything has to be politically correct. What happened to sticks and stones? Why must everyone be coddled? Why can't you simply voice your opinion without having to worry if someone is offended? They're just words. Call me any name in the book. Be it about my race, religion, age, or up-brining. Why should I care about what someone else thinks of me? Stop being so sensitive. Words are words and they do nothing to your physical well being. Stop using filters and candy coating things and just tell it like it is.

@kspool The only reason I took exception to the comment being said (retarded) as another member pointed out as well in another thread. We dont know this members situation. This member could have a dissability. The word retarded is in poor taste, not politically correct and a poor reflection on DCZ and its members as a whole.

On the other hand the member could of had made some bad choices who knows. We dont know the situation.By the members actions (of not logging on) I would venture to say he realized he made a mistake and is embarrassed.Might even viewed the thread from the outside and said forget its not worth logging in who knows?I am not choosing sides.LIke I said before it is between the seller and the person who retracted the bids.

Karl I've wondered the same myself. There's a new generation of people (I'm not talking age group) on the board, and almost all the mods have changed in the last year or so. Things have been run differently than maybe 3-4 years ago when I joined. Being on the forum today requires more discipline than it did when I was newer. I choose more to stay off here, because I know one small mistake and you get blasted. The President could join here and if he had bad grammar he'd get yelled at.

I do know and understand that what this guy had done through eBay was no 'small mistake' as I said before, but all the unneeded comments toward him probably drove him off, or in our case, delayed an answer. That's most likely why we were told not to comment. I doubt I would have made any comment in the thread as negativity toward the person, but the fact I was told to stay off irked me...

Like said before, DCZ has changed between the old and the new members, and I know which I like better.

The point of locking many of the threads lately is because they turn into a pure pile on of people's opinions and bashings about situations they had nothing to do with in the first place. If you just want to sit back and see the community bash and bash and pile on and pile on, then I guess we can leave them open. We've locked down driver bashing threads, member bashing threads, just bashing threads in general after they've run a (sometimes very long) course.

I have not been around as long as you but you are correct. DCZ has changed and is also why I don't hang around as much as I used too.

I do agree that a lot of people say the same things over and over (Grow up, get your life together, when I was your age, etc) which does get old, but some members do have constructive things to say.

I know that some members have constructive things to say, but it's ironic that we get blasted lately because there's "just so much negativity around here anymore", but then when we try to stem the flow of said negativity, we get blasted again. I think I know what @racersimage will say, and that's "If you all want to see post after post of trashing people, or drivers, or websites or members, then fine, have at it!"

I tell ya what, I'll go in and unlock that thread so that we can continue to talk about how terrible that person is. (Which by the way, I've already voted to have him banned immediately because he doesn't need to be around here).
