Default Stupid Things People Have Said

We have a topic like this on another board, and it is great to read. Everyone has said stupid things or know someone that has said something stupid, and I thought we could start a topic here.

These are two of my favorites.

So a few months ago, me and my friend were playing NBA Live 08, I was the Cavs and Ben Wallace went to the free throw line and missed both of his free throws (as usual) and he said to me "I know a trick to help you on free throws. If the shooter is 50 percent from the line, you should hold the button down till the ball is released, it will go in half the time."

Another one of my favorites is when we were watching the news in school, and they were talking about Russia invading Georgia, and one guy in my class says "Why are they only invading Georgia? You'd think they would want to invade the whole U.S."

That's some real funny shit, it's also so very sad. He sounds very very clueless.

I'll simply respond to this one by leaving this quote from John Wayne.

“Life is tough, but it's tougher when you're stupid.”

Here are some good ones from one of my Sports Illustrated issues:
- John McKay, Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach, asked what he thought of his team's execution following a 34-27 loss to Cleveland, "I think it's a good idea." (1980)
- Beano Cook, CBS spokesman, after Bowie Kuhn gave the 52 former Iranian hostages lifetime major league baseball passes, "Haven't they suffered enough?" (1981)
- Steve Largent, Seattle Seahawks All-Pro wide receiver, on which of his records he will treasure most when he retires, "Probably the Beatles' White Album." (1987)
- Caldwell Jones, Portland Trail Blazers center, when asked to name his favorite seafood, "Salwater taffy." (1987)
- Torrin Polk, University of Houston receiver, praising his coach John Jenkins, "He treats us like men. He lets us wear earrings." (1991)
- Elden Campbell, Los Angeles Lakers forward, when asked if he had earned his degree from Clemson, "No, but they gave me one anyway." (1991)
- Bill Belichick, Cleveland Browns coach, on his team's preparation before a game with the San Diego Chargers, "I don't think there's anybody in this organization not focused on the 49ers... I mean Chargers." (1992)
- Joe Theismann, former Washington Redskins quarterback, "The word genius isn't applicable in football. A genius is a guy like Norman Einstein." (1992)
- Pete Carril, Princeton coach, on why he wouldn't move Steve Goodrich from center to forward, "He has the shooting range. What he doesn't have is the making range." (1995)
- Steve Francis, Houston Rockets point guard, on his similarities to teammate Yao Ming, "He's just like me- except he's 7'6" and Chinese." (2002)
- Jerome James, Seattle Supersonics center, on coach Nate McMillan's charge that he was selfish, "I don't have the first clue who he is talking about, because all I worry about is Jerome." (2003)

You could plug just about any professional athlete's name in there now a days.

Any Quote from Yogi Berra...but here are two good ones:

"Always go to other people's funerals; otherwise they won't come to yours."

"He hits from both sides of the plate. He's amphibious."

I've got one that says all you need to know about my buddy's wife. One day she said something really stupid, which is what she does. I told her, "You know you should have been born blonde." Her response? "Why, do you think I'd look pretty with blonde hair?"
