The 09' Pittsburgh Pirates season is underway......

Well, two series outta the way for the 09' season, and the Pirates are @ .500. That is way better than what I thought they would be at this point in the young 09' season, and they could have swept one series and won the other.
They are playing their typical (as has been the norm for this core group of players) fundamentally deficient baseball, even as they managed to turn a triple play against the Reds in their last outing.
Andy LaRoche at third had three errors in two consecutive games. He later in the series hit a homerun, but IMO that does little to redeem him.
The Jason Bay and Xavier Nady trades are still looking bad, but they received a lot of players in those deals so time will tell what happens in the end.
Andy was benched in the last two games and the defense was improved.
No, they are not a playoff team as they are playing now, but .500 would (at this point) be like a World Series Championship this year. It all rests on the shoulders of the pitching staff.
It is as they say "a long season" and w/156 games left to be played, I am again along for the ride.
Next up, the "Home Opener", Go Bucs!!!!
