#84 is considered a rookie car but if you want to be technical I would say the 05 because he was still Rookie status and ran for ROTY that year. Now if he would have ran more then the 7 races in 04 and lost ROTY status for 05 then it would have been the #84.

Did the 84 come out after the # 5? Id think you would have to go with the very first one that came out Isnt that how it works with trading cards and rookie cards?

If you are going to go to the lower series, then techinically the #99 Eldon Ford F-150 for Jack Roush would be his rookie car/truck. As for the purpose of this discussion, the #5 Kelloggs Chevy would be considered his rookie car in Cup since he ran for Rookie of the Year in that car.
