Default nascar diecast dealers

So a question I've often had, how do you exactly become a diecast dealer? Is there an agreement with Nascar, MA, how do you start a diecast business as a mainline dealer? do you have to pay upfront? do you have a contract you must abide by? Partsman you've mentioned limits on what dealers will get, how stringent is the supplier? Just curious, not a chance in this climate I'd want to start a business like this, but it always hung in the back of my mind how you start out/ THanks.

When I had my diecast business I had to fill out each dealer/credit app individually with each distributor.I dealt with Race World,R&R,,Brickels,Masons,BWC,Bobby McCulloughs, the people who are now Go Motorbids, and the people in Santee Ca.I also was a dealer for GMP,1320, and the people who made the Nlostalgia acrs from So Cal.For apparel I used Sports Image.
I went to Charlotte and met a lot of the dealers I dealt with and started my relationship that way.I spent 3 to 6 hours a day working the phones to see who had what and what deals aka close outs etc I could buy and sell for a %100 mark up.When I had my business the average markup on diecast was %50.
I had contracts with multiple local speedways to sell trackside.I also had a contract with WOO which was almost impossible at the time,I had a store, did swap meets, Good Guys car shows etc.I was on the road for more than 15t0 days a year.It was not uncommon for me to start in Chico Ca on Friday,Placerville Ca on Saturday night then drive all night and pull in to Pomona Ca about 5 a.m. on Sunday and sell all day then get a room and grab some sleep then come back home.I drove more than 700,000 miles in 10 years.I was the third largest diecast dealer in ca during that time.
I miss selling diecast.I have a family now and diecast is not feasible to support a family any longer.I made a lot of good friends that I still talk to and would see when i was working the Nascar races with my friend.
If you have any questions feel free to PM me.

There is a link under the customer service tab on MA's website. You have to fill out an application with one of the 4 distributers for MA depending on your area.

If you want to shoout me an email or PM with your zip code and I will send it to my rep and find out who you need to contact.

David
